The House on Mango Street is a fictional book about a hispanic girl named Esperanza and her time living on Mango Street. In the book she has to go through some hard times and and rough situations. For example in part in the book her friend Sally gets abused by her own father, and Esperanza tries to help Sally get thru that.
Esperanza is the main character in this book. I wouldn’t want to meet her. She is a young hispanic girl who is pretty sad about her life. This is part of the reason why I don’t want to meet her. Not the hispanic part of course, but because she doesn’t sound or feel like she would be a fun person to be around. in the book, she is just all sad and grumpy all the time.
I didn’t really like the way the way the book was written but I did like the story. I like how the story had a lot of variety and character arcs. I would recommend this book to people who like poetic writing. The House on Mango Street is kind of like the book It’s Bud Not Buddy because they are booth about a young person trying to get through a hard life in poverty.
I dont really know what the authors trying to tell me because I felt like the book had a lot of different messages throughout the story. Things like; be grateful for what you have, and never give up, or maybe the author was just trying to give us some simple wisdom.
